In preparation for a speaking engagement in May, I’ve been analyzing the qualities that help people thrive when faced with a challenge. So far I’ve come up with this list:
- Realistic optimism
- Creativity
- Perseverance
- Making a decision and taking action
- Humor
- Hope rooted in faith
I’ve blogged about a few of these, but I’m also seeking additions to my list.
One reader responded with this comment:
Resilience is best found in those who have a goal and a course/path to get them there.
That’s a great addition–we thrive when we have a purpose.
Think about people you know who have bounced back and thrived after trying times. What qualities are most essential to developing this sort of resilience?
What would you add? What are the qualities that lead to resilience in difficult circumstances?
